Tencent is no stranger to mobile gamers as the company is known for its PUBG Mobile which is widely popular in Malaysia. While there aren't any new games from it recently, Reuters reported that Tencent has been developing an Elden Ring mobile game version for quite some time.

According to Reuters, Tencent acquired Elden Ring's license from FromSoftware (the OG) back in 2022 and a team has been working on a prototype ever since. However, the progress has been slow and nobody really knows what's going on except for the ones working on it.

A mobile version of Elden Ring is expected to have micro-transactions but this goes against FromSoftware's gaming philosophy of a one-time purchase model. The media tried reaching out to both Tencent and FromSoftware but declined to comment because there was no permission.

For the uninitiated, Elden Ring is a 2022 "Souls" action video game where players make a character and battle mythical beings in an open medieval fantasy world. It sold over 20 million copies and was the second best-selling game that year.
