Two years ago, ZTE released the first commercial under-display camera phone but it failed to meet expectations. While the company continued refining the technology, it may finally be perfect on the upcoming ZTE Axon 40 thanks to a new update.

Taken from the forums of Weibo, a leaker posted a teaser of the alleged Axon 40 showing no signs of the under-display camera. It has always been an issue whereby if you look at the phone from a different angle, you won't see any distortion in the front camera area. The under-display camera technology is now the third generation.

Moreover, the image in the Weibo post also showed a dual-curved display with a wide screen-to-body ratio. The bezel on top is really narrow and as aforementioned, the front camera is completely invisible now. Rumours have it that the display could support 1440p and an AMOLED panel.

Source also mentioned that how the under-display camera achieved the invisibility look is due to the rearranged pixel structure effect. Compared with its predecessors, the pixel density get increased to FHD resolution. Lastly, it is also rumoured that the display uses pixel-width modulation dimming.

Unfortunately, the ZTE Axon series has never really taken off in the Malaysian market. Could the ZTE Axon 40 change that? We will just have to wait and see. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
