The iPhone 16 series has been launched for almost two weeks now but Barclays analysts claimed that it may not been selling more than expected. According to a new investor note, Apple "may have just cut" three million iPhone 16 production units.
Why the huge cut in production? Barclays said due to the "recent supply channel checks", it suggested a 15% decline year-over-year for the launch. Hence, the cuts were ordered at a "key semiconductor" partner for iPhone orders until the end of this year. Despite the cut, Barclays still believes there are still 51 million iPhone 16 unit shipments on track for September.
The cuts ordered by Apple are also believed to do something with the lack of Apple Intelligence features. As you should know, Apple is planning to release select AI functions in phases. During the launch, the iPhone 16 series didn't have a single Apple Intelligence feature, albeit with some new UI changes via iOS 18. "Lack of hardware differentiation" was also one of the reasons.
We are still in the midst of exploring the iPhone 16 series, particularly the iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 16 Pro. Until then, stay tuned for our reviews only on TechNave.com.
