Andrew Koh takes over at Canon Marketing (Malaysia), charts the future for Canon's cameras here in Malaysia

With nearly 20 years at Canon, Andrew Koh looks to be rolling out Canon's camera business for Malaysia as he has recently taken over as President and CEO of Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. As the only camera manufacturer to produce the image sensor, image processor and interchangeable lens for cameras, printers, multi-function devices and more, Andrew looks to make Canon a full imaging business, consolidating the company's complete assets and encouraging growth in all aspects.

Talking about cameras, he expects plenty more new Canon devices coming soon, including the mirrorless Canon EOS M5 to go with devices like the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. New markets that he intends to focus on include first time users, photographers who have never owned a dedicated camera before particularly the Malay market. SMEs are also a major group which Canon will be focusing on.

For 2017 they look to double their current mirrorless camera market share and camera market share up to 50% from 40% while maintaining Canon as a sustainable business. He acknowledges that Canon customers have high expectations of the company but he says that while the company has the research and development to back it up, consumers should be patient as the company is working to bring new innovations to market.
