Android 12L to come in 2022, brings improved UI for larger screens

At one point, Android tablets were devices that no one cared for. But they have seen a revival of sorts this year, with more brands starting to release both mid-range and flagship models. As such, Google is looking to make UI improvements for it.

Yesterday, Google announced that Android 12L will be coming in early 2022. While it wasn't confirmed, the 'L' probably refers to large since Android 12L was designed for tablets and foldable devices. The idea is to make the Android 12 user interface easier to use and better looking for large screens. Tablet displays tend to have different aspect ratios compared to smartphones, so that makes sense.

Besides that, Google also mentioned improved compatibility for apps and better split-screen mode. The latter is the most useful, as it takes advantage of the large screen size so you can even run two apps simultaneously. There will also be a new taskbar that lets you quickly launch apps on the fly.

If you plan to use a high-end tablet as a laptop replacement, Android 12L should be an interesting update for you. But what are your thoughts on that? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates about it.
