Google opened up Android 16 Beta testing on supported Pixel devices today. Testing for Android 16 began earlier this year in line with Google's plan to get the latest operating system into your hands sooner. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, among the new features brought by Android 16 Beta is Live Activity which provides real-time information directly on the lock screen. This is a feature similar to iOS through Dynamic Island and the Now Bar on the Galaxy S25 series that was just launched yesterday.

In addition, there is support for dynamically resizing apps when used on screens larger than 600dp. This is a required feature on tablets and foldable devices on the market. With Android 16, apps will automatically resize to the actual screen size and developers can no longer prevent this from happening as they do now.

Moreover, the camera is also given the ability to automatically activate night mode in Android 16. This is different from the night mode in the camera app which already does it automatically. In Android 16, any third-party app like Instagram for example will activate night mode when the camera feature is used in the app.

For Pixel owners who want to test Android 16 Beta today, please register your device via this link. The Android 16 Beta download size is 2.86GB.
