Eric Kay, Vice President of Engineering at Google, says the Airdrop feature will be rolled out to all Android devices this year. So, what should you know about it?

This feature could arrive very soon

For your information, the feature is still in testing, but signs of it coming soon have been spotted after the Quick Share Extension was recently updated. In addition to sending to iPhones, Quick Share can also send files to iPads, MacBooks, and Macs.

So far, supporting cross-operating system file transfers has only been possible through third-party applications such as LocalSend. Chinese devices such as Oppo and Xiaomi have also implemented their own systems to bring cross-platform support.
