Android users could restore eSIMs through data backups soon

Most flagship Android devices now support eSIM, which is more practical than a physical SIM. However, unlike a physical SIM, if using an eSIM and the phone breaks, users may be stuck without network access, as there is no easy way to transfer an eSIM from an old phone to a new one without the help of a service provider. So, what should you know about it?

The good news is, Google is now reportedly planning to add an eSIM backup and restore feature to Google One. According to a report by Android Authority, the beta version of Google Play Services v25.16.33 contains code that indicates that Android users may be able to back up and restore eSIMs via Google One

Additionally, this feature will certainly make the process of switching to a new device easier, especially when users don't have both the old and new devices in good condition or ready for data transfer. As of now, eSIM is not yet included in device backups, and it is uncertain when Google will launch this feature.
