Caretaker Minister of Communication and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa has lauded the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia programme and revealed that students that received tablets under the initiative are happy with its quality. He added that the programme has received a very good response from students, with most of them grateful for the “latest higher-capacity model”.

As reported by Bernama, Annuar elaborated that his ministry took the approach of discussing with students first before choosing the tablet model for PerantiSiswa. Prior to its selection, students from various backgrounds were selected to try out several types of devices to determine which device is suitable for use in their studies.

In case you didn’t know, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 LTE was chosen as the tablet of choice under the programme, which is meant to benefit students of higher education institutions from the B40 group. Moreover, alongside the Galaxy Tab A8 LTE, eligible students will also receive a detachable keyboard (Smart Keyboard Trio 500), stylus pen, and black tablet cover (Galaxy Tab A8 Book Cover).

Speaking to reporters after presenting the PerantiSiswa tablets to students at the Langkawi Vocation College today, Annuar revealed that many did not know that the model chosen for the programme is more powerful than a laptop. The caretaker Communications Minister then stressed that his ministry was committed to ensuring every one of the more than 200,000 approved applicants would receive their devices by end of this month.

Annuar further elaborated that the remaining more than 200,000 applications were still undergoing the approval process, adding that the devices for these students would be distributed by the end of November. He also revealed that the government has never managed such a big number of devices before.
