Today, the much-rumoured Apple AirPods Pro has been announced and it will be arriving soon in Malaysia through the official website and the Apple Store app. Priced for RM1099, the new AirPods Pro will require Apple devices running on the latest iOS 13.2 update, as well as iPadOS 13.2, watchOS 6.1, tvOS 13.2, or macOS Catalina 10.15.

On top of the pricing, Malaysia customers will be able to customize a personal engraving on the AirPods Pro, AirPods with Charging Case and AirPods with Wireless Charging Case for free as well, so that's cool. Speaking of charging cases, the AirPods with Charging and Wireless Charging Case is available for RM699 and RM879 respectively. Customers can also order the standalone Wireless Charging Case for RM439.

In case you're wondering about the difference between this and its predecessor, the obvious one would be the all-new design with a new earbud for each side and has three different sizes. the shape is more oval this time and it has a sweat and water-resistant grade. Also, Apple integrated Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) with two microphones for removing the background noise back and forth.

How this works is that the AirPods Pro will detect the background noise and create an equivalent anti-noise that cancels it out on the outward first microphone, and likewise for the second inward-facing microphone. It's said that the noise cancellation continuously adapts the sound signal 200 times per second. The first microphone is outward-facing and detects external sound to analyse environmental noise. AirPods Pro then create an equivalent anti-noise that cancels out background noise before it reaches the listener’s ear. A second inward-facing microphone listens toward the ear, and AirPods Pro cancel remaining noise detected by the microphone. Noise cancellation continuously adapts the sound signal 200 times per second.

Besides the ANC, there's also a Transparency Mode for users to listen to their songs and the environment around them by using a pressure-equalising vent system and software that leaves just the right amount of noise cancellation active. This mode can be switched in between with a force sensor which can be done by pressing hold the AirPod Pro stem below the outward microphone. This also works for controlling music and calls.

You can even share a song, podcast or other audio streams between two sets of AirPods with Audio Sharing

For performance, it is sporting an Apple-designed H1 chip which has 10 audio cores that can create extremely low audio processing latency of H1 enables real-time noise cancellation. And for battery life, it can deliver up to four and a half hours of listening time and up to three and a half hours of talk time on a single charge, as well as over 24 hours of listening time or over 18 hours of talk time via Wireless Charging Casing.

This is certainly a big jump compared with the predecessor, are you going to get one? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more Apple news at TechNave.com.
