Apple Independent Repair Provider Program coming to Malaysia

If you have an older iPhone, chances are you don't want it to break down. It's hard to get older models repaired and there are only so many Apple authorised repair shops in Malaysia, so it could take time for them to fix your phone. Hopefully, that will change now that the Independent Repair Provider Program is going global.

Yesterday, Apple announced that the program would soon be available in more than 200 countries. And yes, Malaysia is included in the expansion plans this time. Specifically, shops in Malaysia can apply to be added to the program starting next week. Of course, the shop must have or train up an Apple-certified technician.

For those who are unaware, the program allows independent shops to have access to the same resources that Apple's Authorised Service Providers have. This includes tools, genuine parts, repair manuals, and diagnostics. Besides the need for a certified technician, there are no other major requirements. You can find out more from this site here.

The certification exam is free for those who join the program, so you might want to consider it if you have a repair shop. Having said that, would you rather repair your old iPhone model or buy a new one? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
