Never thought we’d see the day but the Apple MacBook Pro have been banned on flights by the US Federal Aviation Administrator (FAA). The decision came after Apple recalled certain units of the laptop that came with batteries that posed a fire risk.

The MacBook model in particular is the MacBook Pro 15 inch laptop as the laptop’s batteries were prone to overheating. The FAA are aware that Apple had recalled the units and alerted airlines about it as well. The laptop is banned both from cabin and checked in luggage. In addition, the European Union has also restricted the laptop from being used on European flights.

Until things have been rectified, we may not be seeing any MacBooks on flights in the US anytime soon. If you have an affected MacBook Pro 15 inch, you may have the batteries replaced at no charge by visiting Apple’s recall page and entering the serial number. Do you have an affected MacBook Pro?
