Apple has released a firmware update for its MagSafe Battery Pack which would allow faster charging for your iPhone. Previously, the battery pack can only charge at 5W but with firmware v2.7, it’s now 50% faster at 7.5W.
According to the Apple Support website, the firmware update will begin automatically after you attach the MagSafe Battery Pack to your iPhone. However, this may take about one week to finish, which is pretty ridiculous.

Thankfully, you can speed up the firmware update by using a Mac or iPad. Just plug the MagSafe Battery Pack to either devices and the update will be enabled automatically and would take just around 5 minutes.
Not sure which firmware your MagSafe Battery Pack is using? Well, you can check through your iPhone and proceed to Settings > General > About > MagSafe Battery Pack. The firmware version shold be 2.7 if it’s updated.
7.5W is still too slow for you? Well, you can always connect your MagSafe Battery Pack to a 20W power source while your iPhone is attached.
This would essentially turn the Battery Pack into a bulky MagSafe Charger which would wireless charge your iPhone at 15W. Though at that point, why don’t you just connect the power source directly to your iPhone for 20W charging, right?
