Apple's latest MagSafe Charger is a new way to charge the iPhones. Working with a circular magnet, MagSafe Charger provides faster wireless charging of up to 15W by sticking on the latest iPhone 12 series. However, it looks like there are several precautions that you need to watch out for before using one or even buying one. One of them would be the MagSafe Duo Charger doesn't work with Apple's previous 29W power adapter.

According to the support page, the reason that the MagSafe Duo Charger can't work with the Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter is that it lacks USB Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0). The power adapter has been replaced with a 30W version in 2018 that does support PD 3.0, thus it is compatible with the MagSafe Duo Charger. However, many of the power adapters in the market do support the latest protocol so alternatives are still available if you happen to own the 29W adapter.

Other than that, Apple's support page also informed that the users should plug the MagSafe Duo Charger into a power source before connecting their iPhones with it to verify that the charger is safe to deliver maximum power. If the users happen to place their iPhones on the MagSafe Duo Charger before plugging into a power source, they will need to remove the iPhone from the MagSafe Duo Charger and wait for three seconds before placing it back.

Last but not least, charging the iPhone in a leather case with the MagSafe Duo Charger could also leave circular imprints from the compression of the leather. Therefore, if it's an expensive leather case, the support page suggests using a non-leather case while charging with MagSafe Duo.
