Apple Malaysia recently announced that Apple’s App Store has blocked more than $2 billion (~RM9 billion) in fraudulent transactions and rejected nearly 1.7 million app submissions in 2022.

In the last 30 days alone, Apple blocked close to 3.9 million attempts to install or launch apps distributed illicitly through the Developer Enterprise Programme, while in 2022, 428000 developer accounts and 282 million customer accounts were rooted out for fraud and abuse.

Apple takes fraud very seriously and uses a variety of methods to protect users, including:

  • Monitoring accounts for suspicious activity
  • Reviewing apps for fraudulent content
  • Blocking fraudulent payments

These measures help to keep the App Store safe for users and ensure that they are only downloading and using legitimate apps. Nonetheless, this doesn’t mean that Apple can protect its users from themselves or their overspending children, so do make sure that all measures have been taken on your side to ensure that accidental fraud doesn’t take place as well.
