During the Apple Event, Apple has revealed its newest watches — the Apple Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 — with enhanced 5G cellular connectivity. However, MacRumors reports that this newer 5G feature won’t be available immediately in many countries.
Where 5G Is Available (…and Where It’s Not)
The upgrades are active at launch in some markets — including the U.S., UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, UAE, Thailand, Japan, China, Singapore, India, among others. However, Malaysia is not mentioned at all when Apple showed a slide of which telco carriers will support 5G on the new Apple Watches.
But in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and several countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, 5G is notably not listed as a supported feature yet. In those places, users will have to rely on LTE until Apple or local carriers enable 5G or meet regulatory approval.
Why Some Countries Are Being Left Out for Now
Apple hasn’t given a definitive public reason for the uneven rollout. The likely culprits include regulatory approvals, frequency band issues, and whether carriers in those regions have activated compatible 5G support.
Also, it’s possible that even in countries where 5G support isn’t ready, the hardware is already in place. That could mean Apple may enable 5G via software updates later, assuming carriers are on board.
Recapping the New Apple Watches
All three of Apple’s latest watch models now include a redesigned modem and antenna setup that supports 5G on the cellular versions. Apple claims stronger signals and improved throughput — especially in areas with previously weak cellular reception.
