Apple Watch introduces Hypertension Notifications in Malaysia

We have been waiting for this for a really long time, but better late than never. Apple has made its hypertension notification feature available on Apple Watch in Malaysia, enabling users to receive alerts if signs of chronic high blood pressure are detected.

How the Feature Works to Detect Hypertension Patterns

The hypertension notifications feature leverages data from the Apple Watch optical heart sensor to assess how a user’s blood vessels respond to heartbeats. Over time, an algorithm reviews this data in the background and sends a notification if consistent patterns associated with high blood pressure are identified.

While the feature can provide valuable early indications of potential hypertension, it is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or direct blood pressure measurement. If a notification is received, Apple recommends logging blood pressure measurements using a third-party cuff for seven days and discussing results with a healthcare provider.

Apple also notes that the feature is designed for users over 22 years old who have not previously been diagnosed with hypertension, aligning with clinical study criteria and regulatory guidance. Users can set up hypertension notifications through the Health app on their iPhone, allowing the Watch to monitor cardiovascular signals without active input.

Eligible Apple Watch Series

Since its introduction on recent models like Series 9 and Ultra 2, the feature has expanded to multiple markets worldwide, helping users gain insights into cardiovascular risk factors through passive, continuous sensing. Stay healthy and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
