Apple adds an edit log viewable by recipients for edited iMessages in iOS 16 beta 4

The upcoming OS update for then Apple iPhoneiOS 16 will be rolling out to users some time this September with a slew of new features such as the ability to edit sent iMessages. However, it seems like Apple is still finding the right formula for that particular feature, with the latest beta further tweaking how it is implemented.

As reported by 9to5Mac, iOS 16 beta 4 has reduced the time period when unsending an iMessage. Previously, users had 15 minutes of leeway, but now it has been reduced to only 2 minutes.

Besides that, a 5-time cap limit to editing sent iMessages has also been introduced, alongside an edit log viewable by both the sender and the recipient. Once you’ve hit the cap limit of edits, the ‘edit’ option will no longer appear when you long-press the iMessage.

Well, sounds like a pretty logical implementation to the feature. Let’s see if it will remain the same when the official version of iOS 16 is released in another two months.
