Apple allegedly aiming to conquer the smart home market next

If you think Apple is happy with just mobile devices and computers, think again. For those unaware, Apple has dabbled in smart home before (like the HomeKit) and wants to focus more on smart home in the future.

According to the Gurman (via Android Authority), Apple is ready to compete in the smart home market. The company has allegedly set up a new Home Ecosystem team helmed by engineers from the failed Apple car project. Based on the speculation, Apple's next smart home project will involve Apple Intelligence, a smart display, and a tabletop robot. It's essentially a smart home robot with a smart display and is controlled by Apple Intelligence.

Apple does have smart home products, such as the Apple HomePod mini, which can function as a smart home hub

In addition, Apple will create a new smart home operating system (OS). This homeOS will allegedly be based on tvOS. This suggests that the robot's attached display could double as a screen for Apple TV. And if that's the case, the robot may also come with an Apple smart speaker like the HomePod. Combined with Apple Intelligence, the robot could become a new smart home hub. Previously, you would do this with a smart speaker like the Apple HomePod, but those have limited smart home functionalities.

Of course, there are currently no official announcements from Apple in this regard, so take the news with a grain of salt. So, is an Apple smart home ecosystem appealing to you? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
