Apple announces iOS 11 with many new features and improvements

Apple officially announced their iOS 11 update with a number of improvements and upgrades. Coming for devices from the Apple iPhone 5s and upwards and the iPad Air and newer, there is no exact Malaysia release date yet, but we expect it to be sometime in September 2017. Here are some of the new features for iOS 11 but you can check it out at the Apple iOS 11 preview site as well:

  • Messages gets a new applications tray, a one-handed mode for the on-screen keyboard and you can now exchange money with other Apple Pay users via the Messages app
  • Siri has a more naturalized (human) voice and better language translation
  • Control Center has a more graphic and customizable layout design with Force Touch support
  • Camera supports H.264 to HEVC, JPEG will be replaced by HEIF, better HDR and low light performance
  • Photos can create loops out of Live Photos and crop them and add various effects like long exposure and blur
  • Do Not Disturb While Driving tries to automatically detect if you're driving and asks you if you want to activate it, blocking distractions and automatically messaging those who text you while driving

  • Maps can work indoors for shopping malls (limited to US for now)
  • Apple Home supports speakers
  • AirPlay 2 lets you create a multi-speaker system
  • The App Store gets a layout redesign for more info on your Game of the day or App of the day
  • Better productivity with enhanced drag and drop, new app switching and an intelligent app dock
  • Apple Pencil has new note-taking features, including instant notes from the lock screen and document scanning
  • Files supports both local and online documents including for Google Drive, Dropbox and Microsoft SkyDrive
  • New ARKit will bring augmented reality to app developers
