An Apple contact lense? You ought to take this news with a pinch of salt but this piece of information is coming from popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. According to his research note, he said that Apple has plans for an augmented reality contact lenses but in the distant future of the 2030s. The purpose of the AR contact lenses is to bring convert visible computing to invisible computing.

If that sounds like some wild sci-fi tool that only happens in the movies, that's because it's exactly what it is. Kuo acknowledged that this is just a " moonshot prediction rather than a guaranteed product" but Apple is the kind of company that would try this kind of technology. Plus, Kuo noted that the lenses should rely on a connection from an iPhone or other Apple devices. That means it doesn't have any computing power and storage on its own.

At the moment, AR is usually used in headsets and they might be secretly working on AR glasses which has been a rumour since last year. Having AR lenses could prove useful, they are lightweight and could fit into our eyes easily. An AR headset could be revealed in mid-2022 whereas the AR glass could arrive in 2025. Still, a long way to go.
