If you wanted a new Apple TV, the latest option was launched (not too long ago) in 2022. But if you want a newer model, hold on because it could be coming this September. References to a new Apple product have been spotted online, and we believe it's a new Apple TV.
According to MacRumors, Apple is working on a "HomeAccessory 17,1" device categorised as a home accessory with a variant of tvOS. This strongly suggests that the product could be a new Apple TV. Or at least an accessory that works with this new model. The actual firmware for the device could be a 'homeOS' first spotted earlier this year. This seems to indicate an overhaul or change to tvOS.
It's a valid assumption, as the source also found references to new Apple TVs with the identifiers "AppleTV14,4" and "AppleTV14,5". Moreover, this new device will allegedly feature the Apple A18 chip. This is also the same chip expected to feature in this year's iPhone 16 series, which could sport some new generative AI or other AI-powered features. That means Apple wants to add AI features to the new Apple TV.
Having said that, this news is mere speculation for now, so take it with a grain of salt. For now, we'll look out for more updates on this, so stay tuned to TechNave for more news.
