Blogger @Kang revealed on Weibo today that the iPhone 17 Pro series actually originally had a black version. So, what should you know about it?

What could have been

Unfortunately, this black colour was later "discontinued for unknown reasons", and it is not clear whether it will return in subsequent models in the future. He also mentioned that this year's 17 Pro series uses a glass and aluminium alloy back cover design.

In his opinion, the black version is the best-looking because the overall colour difference is less obvious, creating a more unified look.

As for the reason for the cancellation, he speculated that it might be related to the "step" of the rear camera module. If it were black, any bumps and paint peeling would be particularly obvious.

Interestingly, it is not far-fetched to assume that the black colour was cut due to technical problems, and he himself said that he "doesn't understand it." In the comments section, one user complained, "The craftsmanship is really bad, but the iOS and chip are still okay."

Moreover, Kang responded, "This hot forging is already very impressive." Another user said, "I've always heard that there's no black colour, but I still can't believe it." He replied with a smile, "Very surprised, haha."

What’s next?

As of now, there are no further details on the technical specifications of this rumoured iPhone. So, we should wait for more announcements from Apple.
