According to a Bloomberg report today, Apple is said to be expanding the satellite communications feature to several other functions and uses. So, what should you know about it?

A mapping feature without WIFI or cellular data support

For your information, one of them is Apple Maps' navigation support using satellites, making it easier for you to continue using the mapping feature even when there is no cellular or Wi-Fi support in an area. This also allows you to continue using Apple Maps if you get lost in a location without a network.

In addition, Apple is also considering the function of sending pictures via Messages using satellites, as well as the use of 5G networks via satellites, where telecommunications transmission towers use satellites for wider coverage.

However, the offering of this satellite feature is still limited to a few countries and has not yet been widely offered. Perhaps with the focus on this network feature, we will see it expanded to other countries. For your information, Apple has previously been willing to fund Globalstar for the development of this satellite network infrastructure.
