Apple might be really planning to launch a foldable device after all. The latest information has come claiming that the tech giant has started developing thinner OLED panels that could be used for foldable displays in the future.

The Elec reports that Apple is developing OLED panels without polarizers, which will allow the screen to be less reflective under the lights, hence, improving the visibility. Not only that, but polarizer films tend to reduce the brightness, leading manufacturers to increase the power consumption for the display. However, doing so will only reduce the lifespan. Removing the polarizers will also make the panel significantly thinner and more optimal for foldable panels.

It's worth mentioning that Apple will not be the first company to use this technology, as Samsung has already applied it on the Galaxy Z Flip3. The Korean company uses the "Eco Square" technology that increases light transmittance while reducing power consumption.
