Apple announced last month that Apple Stores and Apple Authorised Service Providers can now repair Face ID by replacing the TrueDepth Camera service part. Previously, iPhone users had to replace the whole device if they had any hardware issue with Face ID.
However, during the announcement, Apple said that the option was only available for iPhone XS or newer, leaving the 'OG' Face ID smartphone, the iPhone X out in the dark. Thankfully, the tech giant has rectified this and announced that iPhone X is now part of the repair programme.
In a memo spotted by MacRumours yesterday, Apple confirmed that it has expanded the programme to include the iPhone X. As for the repair fee, it will vary based on the service provider, location and device.
One thing’s for sure though, it is way cheaper than having to replace the whole device. Speaking of which, this programme is actually part of Apple’s initiative to offer cheaper and more environmentally sustainable means of device repairs to customers.
