Apple foldable iPhone could launch in September 2022

It seems every brand wants to make a foldable device these days and Apple is no exemption. There have been rumours about a future iPhone with a foldable display that will feature a patented folding mechanism. Now, sources claim that there's already a planned release window for the device.

According to Economic Daily News, Apple has been sending foldable iPhones (likely prototypes) to Foxconn to be tested. Allegedly, one of the main things to be tested is the viability of OLED or Micro-LED as the display panel. This step is important, as it's said that the panel choice will determine the method or process used to assemble the device. Another component being tested is the folding mechanism, with the target number set to more than 100000 folds.

What's interesting is that a release window of September 2022 has already been decided. If this timeframe is accurate, then Apple's foldable iPhone will be introduced with the iPhone 14 series. For all we know, it could be a higher-end model in the series, rather than being sold as a separate product series. At this stage, your guess is as good as ours.

Sounds like Apple fans will have to wait another 2 years to get a foldable device. As usual, this is still a rumour so do take it with a grain of salt.
