Apple recently announced the latest version of their Apple iPad tablet. Not very keen on numbering this 5th generation tablet either, Apple have called it the iPad Air mainly because it is much thinner an lighter than previous versions. While it has the same 9.7-inch Retina Display, the iPad Air has slimmer bezels and a thinner overall look, confirming earlier rumours and leaks that it would look more like the iPad Mini. While it doesn't have any Touch ID fingerprint scanner it does pack in the new 64-bit Apple A7 processor and chipset with M7 coprocessor making it as powerful as the Apple iPhone 5S. Other tech specs and features for the Apple iPad Air include the following:

- 16GB / 32GB / 64GB / 128GB storage
- 9.7-inch Retina Display (2048 x 1536 pixels, 264 ppi pixel density, LED-backlit, IPS, Multi-touch, Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating)
- 5MP rear camera (autofocus, face detection, backside illumination, f/2.4 aperture) + 1.2MP FaceTime front camera
- Supports WiFi + Bluetooth + (4G LTE + GPS (Cellular version))
- Supports dual microphones + dual antennas
- 169.5 x 240 x 7.5mm | 469g / 478g (Celluar version)
- 10 hour battery

Contrary to the gold iPad rumours, the iPad Air will only come in Space Gray and Silver. The Apple iPad Air will also be offered in the US, UK, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore starting from 1 November 2013. As expected, Malaysia release dates haven't been revealed yet. Pricing for the Apple iPad Air in the US is $499 (RM1576) for the 16GB WiFi version while the 16GB Cellular version will be priced from $629 (RM1987). Prices for the previous model have gone down with the 4th generation iPad with Retina Display going from RM50 to RM100 less than before. Strangely enough, the Apple iPad 2 remains on sale at RM1199 for the base WiFi 16GB version.
