Apple has today unveiled the next generation of its redesigned iPad Pro, powered by its new M5 system-on-a-chip. On the Apple newsroom, the new tablet is said to deliver massive leaps in horsepower, AI capabilities, and graphics performance. It comes in a few variants, starting from RM4499.

The M5 iPad Pro Tech Specs

As mentioned, the new iPad Pro features the latest M5 chip, Apple’s most advanced silicon stripped of compromises. With a next-gen GPU featuring a Neural Accelerator in every core, and a 16-core Neural Engine, the M5 delivers up to 3.5× better AI performance than the M4, and a startling 5.6× jump versus the M1.

Capable of executing real-world AI tasks, Apple said we can expect blazing-fast on-device diffusion image generation, AI video masking, and seamless performance in tools like DaVinci Resolve and drawing apps like Draw Things. This is due to the M5’s 10-core GPU as a third-generation ray-tracing engine, delivering up to 1.5× faster 3D rendering than the previous generation and a staggering 6.7× increase over M1 models.

The 10-core CPU raises clock speeds while balancing efficiency, ideal for heavy tasks like rendering architecture models in SketchUp or opening massive CAD files on the fly. Video workflows get turbocharged too, with 6× faster video transcode speeds and 3.7× quicker AI-powered upscaling.

Both the 11-inch and 13-inch models are thinner than ever (5.3 mm and 5.1 mm respectively) but packed with visual power — the Ultra Retina XDR display offers up to 1600 nits peak HDR brightness and 1000 nits full-screen SDR. The models also have native support for 120Hz external displays with Adaptive Sync.

iPadOS 26 and Connectivity

The launch is perfectly timed with iPadOS 26, a feature-rich update with bold UI changes. New highlights include Liquid Glass, a refined windowing system with swipe-down menus, and heavy upgrades to the Files and Preview apps. Built-in Apple Intelligence expands features beyond the system level, such as FaceTime Live Translation, smarter Reminders, and proactive Shortcuts.

Additionally, Apple’s N1 wireless chip brings Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, while the C1X modem in cellular models pushes 5G throughput 50% faster than before. eSIM support and streamlined multi-plan setup make switching carriers or data plans feel seamless — particularly useful for power users or frequent travellers.
