The Apple iPhone 15 series features various improvements from previous models, both in terms of hardware and software. Recently, it was also revealed that the latest iPhone models have more settings in regard to safeguarding battery health, including limiting charging to only up to 80 per cent and the ability to check battery cycle count.

According to The Verge which held a Q&A on the iPhone 15 series yesterday, there are now 3 options in the Charging Optimisation in the Battery Health and Charging menu. These include Optimised Battery Charging (intelligently delays charging past 80 per cent until a more appropriate time), 80 per cent limit (charging will stop at 80 per cent) and none.

Besides that, according to Ray Wong on X, users can also check their battery cycle count for the first time on an iPhone. Users can do so by going to Settings > General > About and a new ‘Battery’ section is present.

There, you can see the number of battery cycles, the manufacture date of the iPhone as well as the device’s first use. If you’re using an older iPhone model, it’s bad news unfortunately as it looks like the feature would be exclusive to the iPhone 15 series.
