Apple’s iPad Pro lineup could potentially see a shake up in the new future as the company is reportedly adding more variants for both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models. According to a report published by reliable tipster Ross Young, it seems that OLED panels will be coming to the iPad Pro, essentially being the first iPads to sport the display technology.

The highest-end tablet that Apple makes, the iPad Pro was first introduced in 2015 with a massive 12.9-inch LCD display, followed by an 11-inch model released the very next year. In its subsequent iterations, both the iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch sports LCD displays with 120Hz refresh rates; one of the first tablets in the world to do so.

Last year’s iPad Pro lineup broke the mould with Apple introducing the first ever Mini LED display on its device with the iPad Pro 12.9-inch. However, the latest iPad Pro 11-inch still sports the same LCD display from its previous iterations.

In fact, the iPad Pro 11-inch won’t be getting an upgrade to Mini LED this year either, as revealed by leaks by Young. The OLED version of the iPad Pros are also not coming this year, with the leaks suggesting that they would be launched in 2024.

A recent report from The Elec, a South Korean tech news portal claimed that LG is aiming to supply OLED panels for both the  11-inch and 12.9-inch versions of the iPad Pro. The same report also claimed that Samsung are also aiming to supply OLED panels for the iPad Pro, but only for the 11-inch model.

Furthermore, Apple is reportedly asking both suppliers to utilise a two-stack tandem structure in the OLED panels. As such would allow for increased brightness and a longer lifespan.

Apple is also reportedly asking for the OLED displays to be low-power LTPO panels. This will allow for dynamic refresh rates from as low as 10Hz to as high as 120Hz for more power efficiency.

While Young does have an impressive track record when it comes to leaking Apple-related products, do note that this is still just speculations. So, please take this information with a grain of salt.
