Apple is reportedly planning to release a 15-inch version of the MacBook Air in late 2023, the first time that the lineup would feature that screen size. The report is an update to previous rumours regarding Apple’s MacBook lineup, which also suggested that the tech giant is working on a 12-inch MacBook Air too.

According to reliable tipster Mark Gurman, the 12-inch model isn’t ready just yet and won’t make its debut alongside the 15-inch MacBook Air later this year. Writing in his popular Power On newsletter on Bloomberg, Gurman claimed that the 12-inch MacBook is no longer on Apple’s “near-term road map”.

However, the industry insider did not elaborate further on the upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air. Given that Apple recently refreshed the MacBook Air lineup with an M2 processor and a new design, it is likely that the 15-inch version will also have a similar design and processor.

More so, when you look at the overall MacBook lineup in Apple’s catalogue having the same boxy, flat design with a display notch. Furthermore, given that the MacBook Air has always been a fanless laptop, it is unlikely that the laptop would feature anything other than the base Apple Silicon CPUs such as the M1 Pro above or their M2 equivalents, as they require better thermals.

Of course, these are all speculations for now, and we just have to wait until an official announcement by Apple to find out for sure. Nevertheless, it’d be intriguing how a 15-inch MacBook Air would look like and more importantly, what would its performance and price be.
