After the launch of AirTag that happened about half a year ago, Apple released an app called Tracker Detect for Android users to detect the smart tracker by connecting with the Find My network. The new app is now live on Google Play Store, and you can use it to help an Apple user out.

Through the use of the app, Android users can find an unexpected AirTag that's away from its owner. For instance, the AirTag will get marked as "Unknown AirTag," and the Android app can play a sound within 10 minutes of identifying the tracker. Apple added that it might take up to 15 minutes after a tracker is separated from its owner before appearing in the app.

"AirTag provides industry-leading privacy and security features, and today we are extending new capabilities to Android devices," an Apple spokesperson said in a statement. However, if you have an Android device and planning to get yourself a new AirTag, we are here to advise you not to do so. Tracker Detect doesn't help you keep track of the AirTags attached to an Apple account, so it's not for Android users who want to use them.
