Apple has released the public beta for iOS 26, giving users early access to its latest mobile operating system ahead of the official rollout in September 2025.

This update introduces a redesigned interface called Liquid Glass, along with new AI-powered features and enhancements to core apps. The public beta is free to download through the Apple Beta Software Program.

In addition to iOS 26, Apple has also rolled out public betas for iPadOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, watchOS 26, and tvOS 18.

What we could expect

The iOS 26 public beta build (23A5297m) is now available to anyone enrolled in Apple’s Beta Software Program. Users can enable it by going to Settings > General > Software Update and selecting the beta option.

Apple recommends installing beta software on secondary devices, as bugs and performance issues are still expected at this stage.

The highlight of iOS 26 is the new Liquid Glass design language. It features translucent surfaces, rounded edges, and smoother animations across the Home Screen, app icons, notifications, and system apps.

The update is considered Apple’s most extensive design refresh since iOS 7.

New AI capabilities under the Apple Intelligence banner are also included. These features provide Live Translation across Messages, FaceTime, and Phone; image generation tools such as Genmoji and Image Playground; and smarter on-screen interactions via Visual Intelligence.

These functions are only available on devices powered by the A17 Pro or newer chips.

More updates and features

The Messages app adds new tools like polls, emoji reactions, and chat backgrounds, while the Phone app introduces caller screening, Hold Assist, and a redesigned unified call interface.

Additional updates include a dedicated Games app, Live Activities in CarPlay, and improvements to Safari, Wallet, Photos, and Camera.

macOS 26 Tahoe also adopts the Liquid Glass interface, extending it to the Dock, menu bar, Control Center, and system icons. New features on Mac include the Phone app, a refreshed Spotlight with quick actions, and the new Games app with Game Overlay support.

iPadOS 26 brings advanced multitasking with free-form window resizing and placement, enhancing productivity on compatible iPad models. The update mirrors many of the visual and AI enhancements found in iOS 26.

watchOS 26 and tvOS 18 are also part of the beta rollout, introducing redesigned interfaces, health tracking improvements, and smarter device controls.
