Apple launches web version of App Store, lets you check apps directly from your browser

Apple is now introducing a full web version of the App Store that allows you to check out apps and games across all of the company's major platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Watch and Vision Pro directly from a web browser.

A more interactive UI

The official App Store page features a modern design with a “Today” tab, a list of popular apps, search functions and filtering by category or platform. Each app also displays full details such as screenshots, reviews, file size and system requirements, making it much more interactive than the old web version, which only displayed basic information.

However, you cannot download the app directly from this website. Each “Get” link will open the original App Store on the appropriate device, such as an iPhone or Mac, for the installation process.

In addition to making it easier for you to find and share apps via web links, it also helps developers gain additional exposure because app pages are now more easily accessible via Google search or external platforms.

This launch shows that Apple is moving towards a more open ecosystem, while still maintaining full control over the download process and transactions in the App Store.
