Apple may cancel the iPhone SE 4 due to lower-than-expected demand

Apple’s entry-level smartphone, the Apple iPhone SE may not be getting its 4th Generation anytime soon due to lower-than-expected demand for the device among consumers. This is according to the latest insight from reliable tipster Ming-Chi Kuo, who claimed that Apple is mulling cancelling the smartphone next year and postponing it to 2024.

The iPhone SE lineup has always recycled old iPhone designs and hardware but with updated internals that includes the year’s latest-generation A Bionic series processor. As such allows for affordable price points as there’s not much R&D involved coupled with a readily-available manufacturing process.

However, the upcoming iPhone SE is touted to feature a new full-screen design that would increase the costs. In addition, the increased cost of materials and the worldwide recession may deter Apple from releasing a new iPhone SE next year.

Furthermore, given that this year's more “affordable” iPhone 14 series is not doing too well in sales either, it is very likely that Apple will choose to postpone any plans for a refreshed iPhone SE. Of course, do take this information with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of yet.
