According to Reuters, Apple has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by the company's shareholders for USD250 million (~RM 1 billion) over delays in Siri's artificial intelligence (AI) features. So, what should you know about it?

We could expect the full Siri AI features to arrive later this year

For your information, the lawsuit was filed by Peter Landsheft, an Apple shareholder who claimed that the delay of the promised feature for the iPhone 16 series negatively affected the company's stock price. To this day, the full Siri AI features advertised have yet to be launched, with it expected to arrive later this year after the WWDC 2026 event.

Although the case was settled out of court, Apple has not admitted any wrongdoing, with the settlement still subject to a judge's approval. The introduction of Apple Intelligence features faced a number of issues because the final software did not meet Apple's own standards before it reached customers. Because of the difficulty of building its own AI models, Apple is now paying a license to use Google's Gemini-based model for Apple Intelligence to power Siri.

Moreover, the features promised by Apple for Siri are now available to Pixel and Galaxy S26 owners in Malaysia through Personal Intelligence. Launched in January, Personal Intelligence uses Gmail data, YouTube views, Google Photos storage, and Google search results to display more accurate and personalised search results for each user.
