Apple is well known for its iPhones and other i-devices, but not much so for its smart home products, as they tend to be in the shadow of the main lineup. This year, the company could be making a significant shift in that market by introducing a range of new devices and features, leveraging AI.

According to Bloomberg, there was a short section of the news mentioning a new smart home hub that combines the functionalities of a HomePod and an iPad. This device is expected to feature a 7-inch display, a camera, and run on a new operating system called homeOS. As the main hub, it is designed to control various smart home devices and will support apps like FaceTime, Apple TV, Apple Music, and Photos.

The hub is anticipated to include a rechargeable battery, allowing for portability within the home, and aims to centralise smart home control. It is expected to launch by the end of 2025. At the same time, Apple is reportedly working on a smart doorbell equipped with advanced facial recognition technology via Face ID. Video footage from the doorbell would be stored securely on iCloud, and the system is expected to be compatible with existing smart locks. This product is also slated for release by the end of 2025.

Additionally, Apple plans to refresh the HomePod mini and Apple TV as well. These updates are expected to feature a new Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip, codenamed "Proxima," developed to reduce reliance on third-party suppliers. The Proxima chip may also be integrated into future iPhones, iPads, and Macs, enhancing connectivity across Apple's ecosystem.

All of these sound pretty futuristic, but of course, nothing is confirmed yet, so perhaps we should take this news with a grain of salt. Until Apple announces them, we will just sit and wait until the day comes. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
