Looks like this news could upset Apple fans. According to CNBC, Apple is increasing the price of its Apple TV+ subscription by 30% in the United States and several other countries starting today. So, what should you know about it?
Apple fans might not be too pleased
For your information, customers will be charged $12.99 (~RM54.92) per month in the USA. This rate goes up from $9.99 (~RM42.26) previously. Existing Apple TV+ customers will be charged the new subscription price in their next billing cycle.
Reportedly, Apple claims the price increase was made because it is a platform that has not offered any form of advertising since its launch, unlike Netflix and Disney+.
Interestingly, today's price increase marks the third since the launch of Apple TV+ in 2019. At that time, it could be subscribed to for only $4.99 (~RM21.11) per month.
Despite being in operation for six years, Apple TV+ is still losing around $1 billion a year with only 45 million subscribers, according to a Variety report earlier this year.
So far, the subscription price in Malaysia remains at RM29.90 for an individual plan. Hopefully, we will not be seeing a price hike anytime soon.
