Unexpectedly, Apple have just announced their new and improved 2019 iPad Air and 2019 iPad Mini starting from RM2199 and RM1699 respectively. Both have received new internals with Apple's latest A12 Bionic chipset and support for the original Apple Pencil, but the new iPad Air will feature a 10.5-inch Retina display with True Tone, while the new iPad Mini will look just like the previous iPad Mini 4 (so yeah, no Face ID or USB C ports).
Other features seem to include better AR or Augmented Reality support and both can also support eSIMs. The new A12 Bionic chipset also means that both 2019 iPads also have much faster and much better graphics to play games or do work. They also support the original Apple Pencil, so the new one won't work for them as well.
The online Apple Malaysia store seems to have already updated models and pricing for the 2 new 2019 iPads but they aren't really available to buy here just yet. Both should be available in gold, silver and space grey with variations (and more expensive pricing) for the WiFi only or WiFi + Cellular versions.
