Apple has allegedly paused development on its augmented reality (AR) glasses and would focus on making a more affordable mixed reality headset instead. The tech giant is reportedly facing technical difficulties with the former, which has the same concept as the Google Glass smart glasses.

According to reliable tipster Mark Gurman, Apple previously set a target of releasing the smart glasses this year before delaying it to 2025. Now, it is claimed that the company has scaled back work on the device, with its launch being postponed “indefinitely”.

Writing in his column on Bloomberg, Gurman said that Apple considers AR glasses as a product that could replace the iPhone in the future. Currently, most of Apple’s AR/VR team is working on a mixed-reality headset that may be available for purchase as early as September this year.

Of course, do take this information with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of yet. So, what do you guys think of Apple’s push into AR and VR? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more trending tech news.
