Apple has released the iOS 16.3.1 update which brings several bug fixes and optimisations to supported iPhones. However, if you’re a Google Photos user, you may not want to update your iPhone just yet as the latest update also brought about a new bug which breaks the Google Photos app on iOS.
As reported by BGR, the latest iOS update seems to break the iPhone’s compatibility with the Google Photos app. Specifically, the app will crash every time you try to open it on devices running iOS 16.3.1.
As of the time of writing, neither Apple nor Google have addressed the issue. As for the iOS update itself, Apple said that it provides “important bug fixes and security updates” and includes:
- iCloud settings may be unresponsive or incorrectly display if apps are using iCloud
- Siri requests for Find My may not work
- Crash Detection optimisations on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models
