It's no secret that the current iOS is a bit lacklustre. However, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, that could change in iOS 19 with the "biggest design changes we have seen in over a decade". So how much change can we expect?
From the source, Apple is said to "go well beyond a new design language and aesthetic tweaks". This includes a new look on the "style of icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons". Gurman also said the new design is "loosely" based on visionOS, and Apple plans to bring this new design theme to the macOS and iPadOS as well for consistency. Rumours have it that the camera app could get a "significant overhaul" too.
If true, then this marks the biggest revamp since iOS 7 way back in 2013. On the other hand, Apple could be planning something huge for macOS 16 as well, marking it as the "most significant upgrade to the Mac" since macOS Big Sur in 2020. There is no word on how the iPadOS will change, but it should follow a similar theme to iOS 19.
Apple will typically announce its latest software updates every June through the WWDC event. Until then, we shall wait and see how the new iOS 19 turns out.
