Apple is no stranger when it comes to recognition and sales volume. However, it seems that the big tech giant has slipped a bit. According to this Korean news outlet, Samsung Electronics is taking the lead in global smartphone sales thanks to the Galaxy S24 series lineup.

In September last year, Samsung ceded the first spot to Apple which was the time when the iPhone 15 series was introduced. The Galaxy S24 series phones received a good reception and market researcher Counterpoint Research said in February 2024, the Korean company has sold 19.69 million units, capturing a 20% market share. Apple, on the other hand, sold 17.41 million iPhones for an 18% share.

Samsung's return to the top spot is thanks to the strong sales in the USA and European markets. This is considered a highlight for the US market since it's heavily dominated by Apple. When the Galaxy S24 series launched in January, the US market share by Apple went from 64% to 48%.

Over here, Samsung Malaysia released the Galaxy S24Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra with a starting price of RM4899. It has a couple of Galaxy AI features which are Circle to Search with Google, Generative Edit, Live Translation and Galaxy AI Chat Assist.
