Apple submitted a new wireless charging ecosystem patent for the MacBook and iPad too

Ever since the introduction of the MagSafe, many tech experts are predicting that Apple is secretly heading towards a future of a portless device. On top of that, there is a new patent that has been filed by the company on researching a new integration of multiple inductive charging coils on Macbooks and iPads.

Why do you need some charging coils on these devices? Well, this is so that your iPhone and Apple Watch could have the potential to be wirelessly charged on the devices. Dubbed as "Inductive charging between electronic devices", this is not a new thing as Huawei has done it already but to wireless charge it on a laptop and tablet is another story. Apparently, Apple has been studying this feature since 2016 but we aren't sure if it can be used practically.

From the graph above, Apple could be planning to have three wireless charging spots. One would be the outer lid of the MacBook whereas the other two spots are beside the tracking pad. The idea is there but if you want to use the laptop to work, the tracking pad area won't be usable.

As for the iPad, Apple has an idea that the tablet's display could have an "alignment condition" for a smaller device. This will require some new software integration which the UI could show some charging information "on the unobstructed part of the screen". Or either that, the iPhone or Apple Watch could just show the details while charging wirelessly.

That's the idea for now, but it would be difficult to come up with a prototype as Apple engineers have to deal with the thermal charging time and charging speed for each coil. It sounds something that can only be done in a sci-fi movie but what do you think? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
