Apple not using the USB-C port has been an issue for the European Committee. Recently, the law that forces every smartphone manufacturer to adopt USB-C ports for devices sold in the region has gained overwhelming support. Therefore, it might be one of the reasons for this new report to appear, saying Apple will eventually ditch the Lightning port for iPhone 15 in 2023.

The information came from reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Previously, Kuo mentioned that the company would be sticking with the Lightning port on the ‌iPhone‌s for the "foreseeable future," stating that switching to USB-C would be harmful to Apple's MiFi business and has lesser waterproof specification. However, the tech giant has switched lanes now, and the pressure from the EU should be one of the main reasons.

Switching from Lightning port to USB-C port should bring more benefits than harm for users. Besides allowing faster charging speed, it could also speed up the transfer rate of media files, including photos and videos. The most important thing is you'll only need one cable to charge all the devices if you own some Android machines.
