Apple to launch new monitor in 2022 at half the price of Pro Display XDR

As you may know, but Apple has some high-end products for professionals. This includes the Pro Display XDR monitor, which is a 32-inch Retina display with a 6K resolution that costs a whopping (RM19999). Most people can't afford this, but Apple could be working on a cheaper model.

According to Mark Gurman (via AppleInsider), Apple will launch a new monitor some time this year. This model will allegedly cost half the price of the Pro Display XDR's US retail price of USD4999. If that's true, we estimate the price to be USD2499 or around RM10423. It's not quite half the price in Malaysian Ringgit, but should still be a notable price reduction.

This means that the new model should have reduced capabilities compared to the Pro Display XDR. For example, the new model could be a 27-inch 4K monitor. The reduction in size and resolution would significantly lower production costs, which then leads to a lower retail price. It could also be using a new panel or cheaper materials.

Of course, this can only be considered speculation for now, so take it with a grain of salt. After all, there is no further info regarding this rumoured monitor. Would this so-called cheaper variant of the Pro Display XDR be of interest to you? Let us know if you'd buy it in the comments below!
