Apple to roll out fixes for iPhone 15 series affected by the BMW wireless charging issue

This news might catch your attention if you have an Apple iPhone 15. Today, Apple announced that the iPhone 15 series experiences some issues with certain BMW cars or Toyota Supra. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, Apple acknowledged this issue in an internal memo shared with Apple Authorized Service Providers. The company said the iPhone 15 series may experience some issues when charging with a built-in phone charger in certain BMW models and Toyota Supra. Doing so will the NFC capabilities of your device.

Interestingly, the NFC chip in your iPhone powers certain features such as Apple Pay and digital car keys. When affected by this issue, you might receive a "Could Not Set Up Apple Pay" error message in the Wallet app. Even when you have already set up the feature, you will still receive the same message.

Thankfully, Apple also said that they will release a software update for this issue by the end of this year. The update might come after the iOS 17.1.1 or iOS 17.2 update. For now, you might want to refrain from using the wireless charging port in your car.
