In a surprise move, a US Judge has found that Apple infringed on Masimo oxymeter patents for their Apple Watch smartwatch. While the case is still proceeding, the end result could have the Apple Watch Series 6 and above banned in their own home country.
While the initial claim by Masimo was made in 2020, the dispute supposedly started when a Masimo executive was recruited by Apple. However, even if proceedings end up worse for Apple, we expect Apple to settle things quickly as they not only disagreed with the ruling but also are confident about a full review of the case.
"We respectfully disagree with today’s decision, and look forward to a full review by the Commission," Apple
