Based on a statement by macumors.com, it seems that the Apple AirPods Max was initially thought to be called the AirPods Studio, and it was supposed to come equipped with a lot more features and functionality that are not available in the current Max variant. These features and functionalities that was supposed to come with the recently released product include the ability to replace the headband and earcups, which could allow the user to customize their listening experience.
Other than that, our source also mentioned that it is highly unlikely that Apple will not be launching a “sport” variant of the AirPods Max, which is expected to be priced at around USD350 (~RM1422) as well as a luxury variant which is priced much higher. With all that said, do take some of the information with a grain of salt, due to the fact that Apple has yet to provide an official statement on the leak.
Looks like they made some changes on these to get them out the door as was deemed likely after several development set backs over the past many months — not seeing swappable bands, and Apple Watch Digital Crown instead of touch panels, and left and right sides aren’t reversible.
